Marine Corps Marathon and 10K

What a race! We started the day at the finish line of the 10K to cheer on Christie and Mike. Unfortunately we misjudged the distance from the Metro station to the finish and missed them both. We found them eventually, though. We are very proud of them!

Once we found them we headed to the National Mall to wait for JB. We found a great spot at Mile 20. We were only there about 20 minutes when he ran by. He was having a great race, but we could tell how happy he was to see his Number One Fans! The girls had Team Daddy tshirts and, of course, looked super cute.

Later that day Sarah wanted to have a race with Mommy. I guess she figured out that she and I were the only ones that didn't race in the morning. Luckily the course was straight, fast, and only from the mailbox to the garage. Whew! Sarah won and was presented with a medal.

I really am proud of my family of runners!

Busy, Busy, Busy

JB and the girls survived my weekend away. I knew they would. We have settled back into our everyday routine. Cheech and Silly Mike arrive on Saturday. The marathon is Sunday. Halloween is right around the corner. It's going to be a busy Fall!

Beth was in town with her soccer team while I was gone. JB took the girls to watch. Notice the tired 4 year old taking advantage of the empty stroller.

The girls have taken on the task of toting things to the recycling bin. JB snapped a shot of their tower.

Anna's Wednesday morning playgroup.

Johnelle was our first non-family member visitor. She loved The Cave.... now you all have to come see for yourselves. We celebrated her birthday while she was here. You know we're always up for cupcakes, even if I didn't have time to make them myself. We had a great time with her.

Halloween fun has begun!

AAAAAARGH! (That's pirate for "Thanks, Grandma!")

Grandma made a bandana for Anna, too. It makes a great dew rag. The McClungs and Farrells will be proud. I'm pondering a costume change for Anna, too. While the candy corn is cute, Sarah would like for her to be her pirate treasure. We'll see if I have time to create another costume!

Army 10-Miler

JB ran the Army 10-Miler on Sunday. The weather was perfect. We took the Metro into the city with friends to watch all the Daddies run. Amazingly, we saw all three of them go by. The kids loved it.

Sarah and Sally.

More cowbell!

Pierce, Sally and Sarah giving the runners high fives. We're hoping none of them contracted the swine flu as they touched about a million hands.

JB stopped for a split second to say hi to the girls. Anna was a bit confused by his sudden appearance and immediate disappearance.

We never found him at the finish line. It was insanely crowded. FInally he borrowed a stranger's phone to call me. Allison was so proud of JB that she jumped in the picture with us. She must've learned that trick from Sarah.

The Marine Corps Marathon is only 2 weeks away. We really are proud of JB. I know I couldn't run 2 miles... much less 26.2. He was glad we were there to cheer him on for the 10-miler and we'll be there (with cowbells!) to cheer him on for the Marathon.
In the meantime I'm heading out of town this weekend on a girl trip. I'm glad the opportunity finally presented itself. It's been too long... seriously... I think since WAY before Anna was born. I vow not to go so long before my next weekend away. I'm not sure I'm going to know what to do with myself!

"Pumpkin Patch"

We went to a "pumpkin patch" this weekend. I put it in quotes because it wasn't really a pumpkin patch at all. As you were leaving you got to pick a kid sized pumpkin to take home, but there was no patch involved whatsoever. Luckily Sarah had the real pumpkin patch experience the last two years and Anna is still a bit too young to get it anyway. We had a great time, though, and if it wasn't for the fact that Anna needed to snooze we could have stayed there all day. Animals galore, slides, hay tunnels, hay rides, food, etc. Sarah loved it.

Sarah got to milk a cow. It was hilarious. Her hands got all wet and she was a bit disgusted!

Weeeeeeeeee!

Anna got too hot in her cute little outfit and we had to change her into the extra clothes from her diaper bag. Had we been in Alabama she would have fit right in!
