Birthday and Stuff

I awoke on my birthday weekend (you know I like to drag the celebration out for as long as possible!) to donuts. Mostly chocolate ooey-gooey goodness, but there were some pink iced with sprinkles thrown in for a certain 4 year old.

Yes, Anna got a few bites, too. It must be nice being the second child. I don't think Sarah had a donut until she was two.

I was also given my very first surprise party. It was fun and I was definitely surprised. NOw, you may notice in the picture that this is NOT my traditional Wacky Cake with Yummy Icing (yes, it deserves capital letters.). I must say, this Chocolate Fudge cake was divine. Nothing could ever measure up to Wacky, but this cake deserves to be a back up. JB was glad to not have to create the Wacky and extra glad that it was such a big hit to my discriminating palate.

Anna's big news of the week is mastering a straw! Yipee!!! Adios sippy cups. FOREVER!

She has also been managing to keep a bow in her hair (yes, it's growing!) for more than one minute. Okay, so it was only in for two minutes, but progress is progress!

Allison invited us over for a Fairy Princess Playdate. They decorated and ate Fairy Cakes then donned their fairy attire for play time.

Monkey See, Monkey Do

I always thought it would be nice if Anna turned out to be our sportsy kid. However, she is already wanting her nails to be painted. Fancy Nancy would say you can play soccer with pink toenails. Let's hope she's right...

(Yes, Mom, I know she was just wanting to pull the brush in and out. Perfecting those fine motor skills!)

The end of "vacation"

I'm not sure if we can really call the last few weeks vacation or not. We were busy unpacking boxes and building fences. We were happy to all be together, though, without having to worry about time spent researching for a thesis, writing a paper or reading a 500 page book.

We hit the National Zoo. THe girls had a great time, but we weren't all that impressed. It was crowded and all of the exhibits seemed to be under construction. At least they had Dippin' DOts.

Hooray for the fence! JB and Ray had a long 3 days, but it looks great. SCout and I are very thankful for their engineering skills and hard work.

4th of July

Per TuTu's request.... though I hope she realizes that when JB goes back to work (and Beth goes home!) the camera will be taking a vacation.

Home Sweet Home

A lot has happened in the last few weeks. The move to VA was, fortunately, very smooth. JB ended up having to race the truck from Montgomery to Vienna which left me alone on the road with the girls. Luckily, Ray was able to come to my rescue. After a grueling day of airport delays and a long taxi ride to the hotel, he met us in Atlanta. I really couldn't have done it without him and the girls were thrilled to have Grandpa along for the ride. Thanks, Ray!!!

We've managed to find an awesome park just behind our house, unpack all of the toys and dress-up clothes and bond with Scout.

I know it will get hot here eventually, but I am LOVING this 80 degree weather in July!!!!
