Erie, Part 3

The acorns were the other big hit. Sarah spent quite a bit of time gathering them one at a time with the little pink shovel. Anna helped Sarah's cause a little bit, but was much more interested in dumping them out.

The ride home was... um.... rough. We are thankful for Baby Bach. That cd worked wonders for Sarah and apparently does the same for Anna. At least for this trip it did. After 2 straight hours of tears they were both asleep within 5 minutes of Baby Bach being piped in through the speakers.

Erie, Part 2

Blueberries, blueberries, blueberries! The bushes were still loaded and they were YUMMY! Sarah, as expected, didn't let a single one pass her lips, but loved picking them. Anna had to be carried away from the bushes!








Taking out the middle man... I can do this myself!

Sorry Alexis... you can have some next summer!

Erie, Part 1

We had a great time in Erie. It was great being there during the summer when we could enjoy the yard!

On our way... watching The Sound of Music. Anna got tired of the Nazis pretty quick.




We made it! Gina, Greg and Alexis met us at the door. Playing began almost immediately.

Three great finds...

1. An awesome park. The whole thing is handicapped accesible which is GREAT for Anna. It also had a carousel which is GREAT for Sarah. Anna was just glad to be out of the sun so she could take her hat off.

2. Anna discovered the vent on the floor. It can now provide several minutes of pure joy. I have a good video and will try to upload, but no promises. Facebook wins the prize for ease of video uploading.

3. The fountains at Fairfax Corner. They both loved it. Anna has no fear and went straight to the middle. Scovill and Marisa both took one for the Bleil team and got soaked getting her out. She, of course, thought it was hilarious and wanted to do it over and over again. Next time I promise to be clothed in a more appropriate way for toddler fountain extraction. Sarah loved it so much that when it was time to leave she threw the biggest tantrum I have seen in a long time. Ear piercing screams, tears, stomping. It was nice....

A rare sisterly moment... no screaming involved whatsoever.

JB's day.

First off.. Happy Birthday, JB!

He started the day as an athlete would... awaking at 5am and doing a triathalon. Fun times. The girls and I started the day with an 8am trip to the grocery store for the ONE ingredient we needed for his birthday cupcakes. They were cooling by the time he got home. Lyle joined us for lunch and the singing of Happy Birthday. Presents followed and included multiple Wii and Green Egg accessories along with tickets to see DC United play next month. After naps (JB included) we made our first trip into DC. We ended up at the Jefferson Memorial. Sarah and I counted the steps... 36. Ironic, huh, JB?

Beth's Visit

Beth came back! She was undeterred by Anna's attachement issues during her last visit and was successful in establishing a very lovely relationship with her 2nd niece. I got to spend most of Thursday out of the house. It was wonderful. JB and I took Sarah to a Nationals game and then we went on a date. Beth even did bath and bedtime. Thanks, Beth. Really.





I made playdough. Sarah and Beth made a fabulous family of snowmen.
